2020 Canadian University Chess Championships

The 2020 Canadian University Chess Championship is hosted at Waterloo Campus of Wilfrid Laurier University on January 18th and January 19th.  The tournament will be hosted in the Senate and Board Chambers and the Paul Martin Centre near the Arts Building and Dining Hall of the University.

Parking is available free of charge on all lots marked as White Permit or Gold Permit.

Registration Details for 2020 Tournament

  • $125 for the first team booked month in advance of the tournament date, with each additional team from the same university costing $100 each. 

  • 2 weeks before the tournament $140 for first team and $110 for additional teams 

  • Less than 2 weeks or day of tournament$160 for the first team and $125 for the additional teams as the entry fee costs

  • 15 rooms available, 8 of which are $105 per night and 7 are $109 per night.

  • To book rooms, participants must call 519-747-9400 and refer to the Canadian University Chess Championships reservations.

  • Rooms are currently booked from Friday January 17th to Monday January 20th; participants can adjust their stay in the room with the hotel

  • Deadline to book room is December 17th, 2019

  • Nearest airports to WLU: Toronto Pearson International Airport - YYZ, Waterloo Region International Airport - YKF, John C. Munro International Airport (Hamilton, Ontario) - YHM, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (Toronto Island) YTZ, and London International Airport - YXU

  • Public Transportation to Kitchener/Waterloo, ON: Go Transit (both train and bus), Via Rail service, Megabus/Coach Canada service (from Hamilton and occasionally from St. Catherines), Greyhound Service

  • Since the tournament falls on a weekend, there is free on-site parking. A official parking map will be sent out before the tournament.
